Description

Tincture made by a process of hydro-ethanolic percolation, with a ratio of 1 part German Chamomile Flowers to 4 parts liquid. Liquid comprises of 55% water and 45% sugar beet derived ethanol.

Chamomilla recutita or Matricaria chamomilla (synonym: Matricaria recutita), commonly known as chamomile, Italian camomilla, German chamomile, Hungarian chamomile (kamilla), wild chamomile or scented mayweed, is an annual plant of the composite family Asteraceae.

M. chamomilla can be found near populated areas all over Europe and temperate Asia, and it has been widely introduced in temperate North America, South America and Australia. It often grows near roads, around landfills, and in cultivated fields as a weed, because the seeds require open soil to survive.

Chamomile is an age-old medicinal herb known in ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome.

Medicinal Action and Uses

Anti-inflammatory - Chamomile has purported anti-inflammatory effects. This is down to the chemical constituents of chamomile, such as bisabolol, chamazulene, and the flavonoids apigenin and luteolin.

Antispasmodic - Chamomile infusions have been used traditionally as GI antispasmodics. Chamomile contains spiroether, a very strong antispasmodic agent that relaxes aching, tense muscles and alleviates premenstrual pain.

Digestive Tonic - The bitter principles in chamomile make it an excellent tonic for the liver and digestive system. The bittersweet flavor stimulate the gastric juices, and help to settle the stomach.

Emmenagogue - Chamomile is an mild but effective remedy for delayed menstruation and irregular menstruation, and is especially helpful in these conditions that may be triggered by stress, anxiety, and tension.

Estrogenic - Chamomile tea is among the most common herbs used for morning sickness (as a tea made from the flowers). Chamomile is also commonly used in menopause with a perceived high efficacy rate and few perceived adverse reactions.

Insomnia - Chamomille is useful in relieving Insomnia as it induces sleep. Chamomile calms anxiety, eases stress.

Skin Complaints - The anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and soothing actions of Chamomile make it a common ingredient in may herbal creams. Used to treat eczema and other dry skin conditions.
