Description

Tincture made by a process of hydro-ethanolic percolation, with a ratio of 1 part Marigold Flowers to 4 parts liquid. Liquid comprises of 75% water and 25% sugar beet derived ethanol.

Calendula officinalis (also known as marigold, ruddles, common marigold or Scotch marigold) is a plant in the genus Calendula of the family Asteraceae. It is probably native to southern Europe, though its long history of cultivation makes its precise origin unknown, and it may possibly be of garden origin. It is also widely naturalised further north in Europe (north to southern England) and elsewhere in warm temperate regions of the world.

Calendula officinalis is a short-lived aromatic herbaceous perennial and can be grown easily in sunny locations in most kinds of soils. Calendulas are considered by many gardening experts as among the easiest and most versatile flowers to grow in a garden, especially because they tolerate most soils.

Medicinal Action and Uses

Emmenagogue - used to help sluggish menses and amenorrhea.

Gastro-intestinal - calendula tea is commonly used to help heal peptic ulcers, esophageal irritation from GERD, and inflammatory bowel disease.  Calendula helps heal inflammation from infection or irritation through its vulnerary, anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial actions.

Lymphatic - acute or chronically swollen lymph nodes: respiratory infection, localized infection, and tonsillitis. Also used for poor immunity, to help prevent infection through stimulating the lymphatic system.

Skin Complaints - Used topically for rashes, stings, wounds, burns, sunburns, abrasions, swellings, eczema, acne, surgical wounds, scrapes, chicken pox, cold sores, genital herpes sores due to its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.
