Description

Organic Tincture made by a process of hydro-ethanolic percolation, with a ratio of 1 part Organic Marshmallow Leaf to 3 parts liquid. Liquid comprises of 75% water and 25% Organic sugar beet derived ethanol.

Althaea officinalis (marsh-mallow, or common marshmallow) is a perennial species. A native of most countries of Europe, from Denmark southward. It grows in salt marshes, in damp meadows, by the sides of ditches, by the sea and on the banks of tidal rivers.  

Both the rhizome and leaf are used within herbal medicine. 

 

Medicinal Action and Uses

Anti-Inflammatory - Marshmallow can be added to creams and used to treat inflammatory skin conditions, such as eczema and contact dermatitis.

Alterative - has restorative propoerties. 

Demulcent - The great demulcent and emollient properties of Marsh Mallow make it useful in inflammation and irritation of the alimentary canal, and of the urinary and respiratory organs.

Digestive - due to it's soothing qualities, marshmallow has been used to treat certain digestive disorders, including heartburn, indigestion, ulcerative colitis, stomach ulcers and Crohn's disease.

Expectorant - used to ease sore throats and dry coughs.
