Tincture made by a process of hydro-ethanolic percolation, with a ratio of 1 part Chrysanthemum Flowers to 3 parts liquid. Liquid comprises of 75% water and 25% sugar beet derived ethanol.
Chrysantemum morifolium (also known as also known as florist’s daisy and hardy garden mum) is a species of perennial plant from Asteraceae family and grows 30-90cm tall and wide. Although the flower frequently grows wild, it is now cultivated due to the large quantities of the herb being needed.
The Ju Hua Chinese herb is known in the Western world as the florist’s Chrysanthemum, and is simply an ornamental flower. However, in China it is a very common herb used in Chinese medicine and is also drunk as herbal tea.
Medicinal Action and Uses
Antibacterial – Chrysanthemum can help the body fight off a range of infections including streptococcal and staphylococcal infections.
External Uses – A rinse made from the flower can be helpful to treat skin infections.
Hypertension – Chrysanthemum candilate the coronary artery, thus increasing the flow of blood to the heart, and so are used in the treatment of hypertension, coronary heart diseases and angina
Ophthalmic – It is also said to improve vision and hearing and is given in cases of dizziness, blurred vision and spots in front of the eyes. It may also be helpful in cases of night blindness and to treat conjunctivitis. It is often used as an eye wash.
Refrigerant – The traditional Chinese have used the tea to treat influenza, fevers, inflammations and even heatstroke due to its cooling effect.
