Tincture made by a process of hydro-ethanolic percolation, with a ratio of 1 part Glossy Privet Fruit to 3 parts liquid. Liquid comprises of 75% water and 25% sugar beet derived ethanol.
Ligustrum lucidum, commonly called broad-leaf privet, Chinese privet glossy privet, tree privet or wax-leaf privet, is a species of privet (genus Ligustrum.) It is a flowering plant in the olive family, Oleaceae, native to the southern half of China and naturalized in many places including Spain, Italy, Algeria, Canary Islands, New Zealand, Lesotho, South Africa, Japan, Korea, Australia, Norfolk Island, Chiapas, Central America, Argentina, and the southern United States.
Ligustrum lucidum is an evergreen tree growing to 10 m tall and broad. It is often used as an ornamental tree, sometimes in variegated forms. It has become an invasive species in some areas where it has been introduced.
It has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for over 1,000 years.
Medicinal Action and Uses
Hepatic – Glossy Privet can be used to treat weak kidney and liver energy such as menopausal problems (especially premature menopause.) It is considered a great herb to combat Hepatitis C.
Immunostimulant – It can enhance non-specific immune function and have two-way adjustment on immune dysfunction. It can also increase low white blood cell count due to chemotherapy or radiation treatment.
Ophthalmic – It is taken internally in the treatment of complaints associated with blurred vision and cataracts. It is also known to reduce macular degeneration.
