Lilium brownii, commonly known as Lily or Hong Kong Lily, is a flowering plant in the Liliaceae family.
The flower favours loose fertile soil along woodland edges or in grass and thickets. Rock crevices, amongst coarse grass and scrub below 1,500 metres. It is native to East Asia – Southern China from Hong Kong, to Burma.
Medicinal Action and Uses
Antitussive – The Lily has expectorant and cough relieving properties and is therefore used in the treatment of coughs and colds.
Diuretic – The plants diuretic properties make it useful to treat oedema and difficult urination.
Sedative – It has mild sedative actions and when combined with other plants (like lotus seeds (Lian Zi), glehnia roots (Bei Sha Shen), jujube seeds (Suan Zao Ren), biota seeds (Bo Zi Ren) and poria-cocos mushrooms (Fu Ling). it can be used to help with irritability, restlessness, nervous anxiety and insomnia.
