Rubia Cordifolia which is also called manjistha or Indian Madder belongs to the family Rubiaceae. It is a branched climber with small, greenish white flowers that are arranged in a cluster of rounds, followed by fleshy, purple fruits.
Manjistha is a rich source of anthraquinones responsible for its traditional, phytochemical, and pharmacological activities. This plant grows well in hilly districts, and the roots are known for their medicinal values.
Manjistha is one of the most valuable herbs in Ayurveda. Charak (born in 300 BC) was one of the principal contributors to Ayurveda. He categorized this medicinal herb as varnya (for the enhancement of skin complexion), jvarahara (anti-pyretic), visaghna (a detoxifier) and a rasayana (rejuvenator). Manjistha is probably the best blood-purifying herb in the indigenous system of medicine.
It cools and detoxifies the blood, dissolves obstructions in blood flow and removes stagnant blood. We at Nature’s Laboratory produce various products of Rubia cordifolia, such as manjishtha root tincture and manjishtha root cut.
