Tincture made by a process of hydro-ethanolic percolation, with a ratio of 1 part Sassafras Root Bark to 3 parts liquid. Liquid comprises of 55% water and 45% sugar beet derived ethanol.
Sassafras officinale (sassafras, white sassafras, red sassafras, or silky sassafras) is a species of Sassafras native to eastern North America, from southern Maine and southern Ontario west to Iowa, and south to central Florida and eastern Texas.
It occurs throughout the eastern deciduous forest habitat type, at altitudes of sea level up to 1,500 m (5000 feet).It i s a medium-sized deciduous tree growing to 15–20 m (49–66 ft) tall.
Medicinal Action and Uses
Analgesic – Sassafras is used to treat rheumatic pain and ease menstrual and parturition pain.
Diaphoretic – Used to reduce fevers.
Tonic – sassafras has historically been used as a tonic and blood purifier.
Topical Uses – sassafras is applied directly to the skin to treat skin problems, achy joints (rheumatism), swollen eyes, sprains, and insect bites or stings. Sassafras oil is also applied to the skin to kill germs and head lice.
