Tincture made by a process of hydro-ethanolic percolation, with a ratio of 1 part Common Wireweed to 5 parts liquid. Liquid comprises of 50% water and 50% sugar beet derived ethanol.
Sida acuta, the common wireweed, is a species of flowering plant in the mallow family, Malvaceae. It is believed to have originated in Central America, but today has a pantropical distribution and is considered a weed in some areas.
It is a perennial plant growing to 1.5m tall. Its habitat ranges from Scrubland, to roadsides and wastelands.
Medicinal Action and Uses
Analgesic -As an effective analgesic, this plant is often recommended for body aches.
Diuretic – the leaves are a diuretic. Increasing urine production. An infusion is used to treat dysentery.
Emollient – It has soothing effect to the skin.
Febrifuge – common wireweed has excellent fever reducing properties.
Indigestion – Common Wireweed can be used to treat indigestion.
Parturient Herb – It is an excellent parturient (women in labour) herb and is used to aid deliveries
Skin Complaints – A decoction of the leaves is used to bathe wounds and to treat ulcers and other sores.
