Tinospora cordifolia ( Willd.) is a deciduous climbing shrub, belonging to the family Menispermaceae. This shrub is widely used in folk and Ayurvedic systems of medicine and referred as ‘Guduchi ’and ‘Amrita’.
It is widely distributed throughout the tropical and subtropical regions of Africa and Asia, including Bangladesh, India, and Sri Lanka. All parts of the plant have been reported as useful for the treatment of various health conditions.
In the recent emergence of the Covid pandemic, Guduchi which is also called, ‘nectar of immunity’, has shown very promising potential in minimising free radical generation in the body, which ultimately helps to boost the immunity of the individual. Herbal practitioners prescribe Guduchi tinctures as remedies for various illness and as a rejuvenating tonic.
