Tincture made by a process of hydro-ethanolic percolation, with a ratio of 1 part Sweet Violet Herb to 4 parts liquid. Liquid comprises of 75% water and 25% sugar beet derived ethanol.

Viola odorata is a species of the genus Viola, native to Europe and Asia, but has also been introduced to North America and Australia. It is commonly known as wood violet, sweet violet, English violet, common violet, florist’s violet, or garden violet.

It is a hardy herbaceous flowering perennial.

The sweet scent of this flower has proved popular, particularly in the late Victorian period, and has consequently been used in the production of many cosmetic fragrances and perfumes. The leaves are edible and commonly used in salads.


Medicinal Action and Uses

Anti-Cancer – Sweet Violet is useful for cancer or other growths. The strained leaves can be used to poultice cancerous or fibrocystic growths.

Antiseptic – Sweet Violet Leaves make a good gargle/mouthwash for gingivitis, ulceration of the mouth, pain from mouth cancers or herpes sores.

Disinfectant – The salicylic acid found in all parts of fresh violets is an active disinfectant and tissue solvent and can be applied externally to soften hard skin, corns and warts. It is also fungicidal.

Expectorant – Sweet Violet has a cooling action and is therefore goods for reducing coughs, cooling fevers, and soothing sore feet. It is often an ingredient in cough medicines.

Laxative – Violet flowers possess slight laxative properties.

Skin Complaints – Sweet Violets are good for wounds, abscesses, swellings, herpes lesions, skin rashes and acute conjunctivitis.
