Organic Tincture made by a process of hydro-ethanolic percolation, with a ratio of 1 part Organic Red Clover Flowers to 3 parts liquid. Liquid comprises of 75% water and 25% Organic sugar beet derived ethanol.

Red Clover Flowers (Trifolium pratense) is a herbaceous species of flowering plant belonging to the bean family – Fabaceae. Other common names include Beebread, cow clover, meadow clover, purple clover, trefoil, wild clover.

They are native to Europe and western Asia however is naturalised in many other regions. Red clover grows mainly on cultivated land and help improve the soil by binding nitrogen from the atmosphere.

The flowers are dark pink with a paler base, 12–15 mm long, produced in a dense inflorescence, and are mostly visited by bumblebees.

 

Medicinal Action and Uses

Anti-Cancer - red clover has been used traditionally as an alternative cancer therapy. Research suggests that the herb may have some cancer-fighting properties, probably due to the isoflavones estrogen-like effect.

Antispasmodic - Red clover has antispasmodic and expectorant properties which could make it useful as a treatment for a cough, bronchitis, and whooping cough. It has also been used as a treatment for the common cold, asthma, and tuberculosis.

Menopausal - The herb is used to treat menopausal symptoms. Specially to reduce hot flashes and night sweats. This is due to the isoflavones in the herb which have estrogenic effects.

Osteoporosis - As estrogen levels drop during menopause, the risk of developing osteoporosis increases. The estrogenic effect of the herb see it used to treat osteoporosis by helping to maintain bone density.

Topical Uses - The flowers have traditionally been used to treat skin problems like rashes, acne, psoriasis and eczema.
