Description

Achillea millefolium, commonly known as yarrow or common yarrow, is a flowering plant in the family Asteraceae. It is native to temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere in Asia, Europe, and North America.

Medicinal Action and Uses

Anti-inflammatory - The oil found in the yarrow has been used to treat arthritis.

Astringent - Very helpful with allergies where nasal secretions and watery eyes are caused by molds, dust, pollen and dander. Yarrow is also known to cause sweating in cases of flu, fevers and colds, helping to cure simple infections.

Decongestant - Yarrow contains a drying effect which helps to improve coughs and sinus infections.

Expectorant - Helps to cure colds.

Fights bacteria - Yarrow has an antiseptic action.

Skin Complaints - Yarrow is used to aid in healing skin conditions, such as eczema.
