Sustainability

At Herbal Apothecary we’re creating socially and ecologically sustainable products and processes. We believe that truly sustainable businesses must consider all aspects of their operating processes and strive to create long lasting benefits for customers, employees, the community and the wider environment. With this philosophy at our core, we make every effort to ensure our raw materials are from sustainable sources and that the products we make are of the highest quality.

Green Energy

We are proud of the fact that our electricity, which powers all of our manufacturing, dispatch and admin processes is from 100% renewable sources.

Carbon Offsetting

And whilst we recognise it's an imperfect solution, we also offeset our carbon footprint via Ecologi - investing in tree planting and renewable energy development schemes around the globe.

Eco-Friendly Packaging

Eco-Friendly Packaging

We ensure all materials that can be recycled don’t end up in landfill and have a policy to use paper only when absolutely necessary.

Our loosefill packaging chips which are used in each dispatch box are made from corn starch and are completely compostable and biodegradable.

Whilst we still use plastic bottles for our liquid products, these are clearly marked with the type of plastic they’re made from to ensure they can be easily recycled.

We are exploring greener alternatives and looking at ways to reduce our carbon footprint further.

Organic Herbs

Organic Herbs

We’re working hard to produce a range of organic products. We know
organic remedies aren’t just good for our bodies, they’re great for the
environment too. This is because organic agriculture works in harmony
with nature.

Living Wage Employer

For us, true sustainability extends well beyond green credentials and limiting environmental impact. How we treat our staff and price our products is also part of our sustainable approach.

We aim to keep our prices fair and affordable, working with a business model that allows us to reinvest in research, development and crucially our workforce.

As an accredited Real Living Wage Employer, we believe that a hard day’s work deserves a fair day’s pay, which means we will always pay our staff a wage significantly higher than the National Minimum Wage.
